ゆるぎ岩観音
⽣ノ浜の南の⼭腹にある磨崖仏で、本島霊場第⼗⼋番札所になっています。観⾳様の
上に乗った⼤きな岩が軽く動いたところから、地元の⼈は「ゆるぎ岩の観⾳さん」と
呼び親しんでいます。
岩に彫られた如意輪観⾳が頬に⼿をついている姿から「⻭痛の神様」として古くから
親しまれてきました。⻭痛に困ったとき、観⾳様に祈って⼀把の線⾹を供え、その灰
を頬につけると痛みが去るといわれています。
近年では落ちそうで落ちない⼤きな岩の様⼦から、合格祈願の場所としても親しまれ
るようになりました。
Yurugiiwa Kannon is a Magaibutsu (Buddhist statues carved on the natural rocks
) located at the southern mountain side of Ikunohama. The place is the 18th site
of Honjima Pilgrimage. The rock on the Magaibutsu slightly moved. So the local
people call it as “Rocking rock Kannnon-san” affectionately. By the shape of the
statue that puts its cheek on the hand, people imagined it as the god that heals a
dental pain. When the people suffered from a dental pain, they put a fire on
incense and prayed. And applying ash on their cheek,pain had gone.
In recent years, Yurugiiwa Kannon has become popular as a place for praying for
success of examination because of the large rock that seems to fall but it actually
does not fall.
