正覚院
島の⼈達が親しみをこめて「⼭寺」と呼ぶ正覚院は、天平年間（729〜748年）に開か
れたと伝わる歴史ある真⾔宗の寺。⾹川県丸⻲市内では最も寺歴の古い寺院です。
書院⽞関の⿓⻁の彫刻や、客殿に並ぶ切妻造の天神社は、塩飽⼤⼯本場の寺にふさわ
しい精巧なものです。
毎年7⽉の第3⽇曜⽇に⾏われる夏祭りでは、湯加持や⽕渡り修⾏が⾏われ、多くの参
拝者が訪れています。

Shokakuin which is called as "Yamadera" by islanders with their fondness is ahistoric Shingon temple. It is said that the temple was formed between 729-748 and is the oldest temple in Marugame city, Kagawa prefecture.
The sculpture (dragon / tiger) at the entrance of Shoin and Tenjinsya that hasKirizumazukuri roof structure at the hall are exquisite wooden crafts. And thoseare counted as the masterpiece of Shiwaku Daiku (Skilled carpenters based on Honjima).
At an annual summer festival which has held at the 3rd Sunday of July, Buddhism initiations such as Yukaji, Hiwatari and so on take place. Many worshippers havevisited there.
