東光寺 薬師如来像
東光寺の本尊にある薬師如来坐像は檜の寄⽊造りで平安時代に作られました。全⾝は
漆（うるし）の上に⾦箔を施し、頭部は⼩粒の螺髪（らほつ）を刻んでいます。平安
時代独特の作⾵が⾼く評価され、1959年には国の重要⽂化財に指定されました。
無住の寺院ため、薬師如来坐像等建物内の拝観を希望する際は、兼帯している正覚院
（本島町泊）への事前予約が必要です。
寺院側に桜の⽊が⽴ち並び、春にオススメのスポット。
The statue of “Yakushinyoraizazou” that has Yosegizukuri structure made by cypress and is located in the main temple inToukouji was made in the Heianperiod.
The whole body of the statue is lacquered with Urushi, and its surface is covered with gold leaf. And the head is engraved with Rahotsu (typical hair shape of Buddha statue).
Because of the characteristic feature of the Heian period, the statue was designated as a nationally important cultural property. It is believed that if you chant Shingon mantra with full of appreciation, the statue will bring you health benefit.
Currently, the temple is managed by Shoukakuin temple (Tomari / Honjima), you need to get their permission to look at the statue in advance. There are many cherry trees. So we recommend you to visit there in Spring.
